Repair Damaged Hair

Chances are that if you've colored, permed, relaxed, or use heat daily your hair is damaged and in need of a major repair. Good news is that you can repair damaged hair with damaged hair treatments until unhealthy hair grows out.

Damaged hair occurs when the cuticle layer or "outside layer" of your hair has been chipped or worn away due to chemical treatments, excessive use of hot styling utensils, or even hair accessories causing tangling or breaking.

To repair damaged hair instantly may seem a viable solution however there is no permanent fix to repair hair permanently.  Damaged hair treatments are only a temporary fix until there is new hair growth and old hair is eventually cut away.

Start to repair damaged hair by choosing a shampoo that will:

1.  First off, clean hair without drying out hair.  That means use a shampoo without "Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate".  This is a surfactant found in most shampoo.  It if very, very, harsh on the hair and tends to strip dry, damaged  hair even more. Try to use a shampoo with "Sodium Laureth Sulfate" it is gentle to hair and won't cause further damage. You can also try TEA laurly Sulfate, or TEA Laureth Sulfate (both of these are excellent surfactants). You can locate the ingredients of most shampoos on the back of the shampoo bottle.   **When choosing a good shampoor for damaged hair, look for shampoo that say - will control flyaways, fatty acids to restore sheen and pliability, humectants - to hold moisture, or add texture to hair. 2.  After shampooing follow up with a protein based reconstructor.  The primary responsibility of reconstructor is to repair damaged hair or strengthen hair.  The reconstructor will fill in damaged spots and strengthen structure of hair from within.  Keratin is a a key ingredient in protein reconstructors that usually contains all 19 amino acids found in human hair.  Keratin has a low molecular weight that enables it to penetrate the hair shaft. Intensify reconstructor treatment by placing a plastic cap on head and sitting under the dryer for 10-15 minutes.

3.  After treating hair with a reconstructor YOU MUST then apply a moisturizing conditioner to soften hair for styling.  The conditioner should be applied immediately after reconstructor process by applying from mid-hair shaft out to ends.  Comb hair with large-toothed comb to distribute evenly.  Then rinse thoroughly.  Your hair should feel consistently clean and silky from scalp to ends.

Damaged hair products are very hard to come by.  Most consider people lather and foam when picking the best shampoos and conditioners to repair damaged hair.  However, choosing a good shampoo and conditioner with the ingredients outlined above is the key.
