Simple Solutions To Most Common Hair Problems

Ingrown Hair Home Remedy

Ingrown hair home remedy in most cases is a simple process and takes very little time.

To start your ingrown hair home remedy you will need to do the following:

1.  Use a hot compress and apply to affected area for at least ten to fifteen minutes in one sitting (two sittings per day for 2-3 days).  Make sure your compress is as hot as you can stand.  (you may need to reheat as needed). The hot compress is used to soften skin eventually allowing hair to peek through the surface as it grows underneath your skin. It should take a couple of days of this process before skin starts to soften to allow hair to break through surface.

2. If after a few days and you should start to see the hair end.  Prepare to remove hair by wiping area clean with an alcohol pad.  You may then use a sterile pair of "Needle-nosed" tweezers and pull hair from skin, thus removing hair strand from follicle entirely.  Use an aftershave to soothe area and then treat with an antibiotic ointment to treat infection.

How to get rid of ingrown hair and keep them away is fairly simple; by using the method above and taking preventive measures such as:

1.  Always use a single edged blade when shaving. Using a razor with more than one blade allows for too close a shave encouraging hair to be cut blunt as opposed to a tapered edge that prevents hair growth under or back into the skin. Never use a razor blade more than three times in a row.

2.  Never hold skin "taut", this encourages too close of a shave encouraging hair to grow back into skin.

3.  Shave in direction of hair growth.  Never, never, shave against the grain.

4.  Try not to pass over area more than 1-2 times.  Repeated shaving in one area will cause you to remove the outer layer of the dermis and cut hair at too blunt an angle.

5.  Always use the best ingrown hair treatment such as Tend Skin which promotes healthy skin before and after shaving.

How to get rid of ingrown hair is a fairly common question amongst those who shave.  The preventive methods above will help you to get rid of ingrown hair altogether or prevent them from coming back at all.  However, because most ingrown hair follicles are usually infected it is sometimes necessary to consult with a physician if there are many ingrown hairs, they cover a large area, or and/or this has been a growing problem for you.

Please note that ingrown hair treatments go hand in hand with prevention.  These unsightly, painful bumps can be easily be stopped by taking the proper steps before shaving and waxing sensitive areas.
